Video: Why New Board Facing Belligerent Owner Must Act
HOAleader.com - Tip of the Week - June 10, 2022
In this month's HOAleader.com video, we offer advice to a rookie board on how to buckle up and act today to save themselves a ton of stress and grief in the long term.
The advice comes in response to a question from an HOAleader.com reader on a board in a townhome community of units in the $400,000s. The reader says they're battling a resident who's running an auto-sales business out of his townhome and using guest parking as his showroom—of course, against the covenants and parking rules.
The board has sought to tow the cars and called for a police escort. The resident, who allegedly happens to have a criminal record for violence, battery, and using the wrong plate on his car, is belligerent and has threatened the board. The police, however, sent the tow truck away and told the board this was a civil matter.
