Video: When Owners Dispute Specials, Can You Turn to Reserves?
HOAleader.com - Tip of the Week - May 13, 2022
In this month's HOAleader.com video, we discuss whether a small condo association in Chicago set a very bad precedent in its effort to silence an owner who was complaining about a special assessment.
The condo association recently repaired its common garage. However, one unit's owners, a couple, insisted they weren't responsible for any share of the repair expense because the work didn't directly affect them. The board, in an attempt to end the conflict, agreed that this couple's one-sixth burden of the cost be taken from the building's reserves.
